Sabine is obviously a woman who prefers to let her books speak for herself as we could get little information about her, and her publicist turned down our request for an interview. But, don't let that put you off. Sabine is a talented newcomer to the scene, and we think she's going to go far. In fact her second novel, The Great Indoors, had shades of the Literary Chick about it, reminding us of early Anita Brookner. We do know that Sabine is a journalist, and has worked for the Independent, the Sunday Times, the Observer and The Guardian. Oh, and she lives in London.Having It and Eating It Laden with shopping, a buggy and two irritable toddlers, Maggie bumps into an old school friend Clare who looks, as she did in the past, cool, calm and absolutely gorgeous. From that day on Claire seems to insidiously creep into Maggie's social scene, until one day it dawns on Maggie that perhaps her increasingly distant husband is having an affair. And having it with Claire.Reader's comment: Heroine Maggie could be a bit annoying at times. She's a sort of whining, angry character, but on the whole the book was great. Very compelling. 8/10 The Great Indoors Martha's world is clean and calm - from interior design to her taste in men to her avoidance of children, and cats. And then her step-father dies and strange things begin to happen. Beginning with Sabine's new lodger...a cat.....and ending with a massive turn-around in her life.Reader's comment: I absolutely loved it. Miles better than her first, and I enjoyed that. A must-read for anyone who devours those house and garden magazines for ideas and peeks into other people's lives. 10/10 Reviews Recently we have been reviewing and changing our review process.
